Action ‘Winter’ is still on

As many as 2700 dump trucks of snow have been removed from Bydgoszcz residential areas since the 3rd of February. New organization of work brings better effects.

Let us remind the readers that on the 3rd of February heavy equipment was directed to remove snow from residential areas. Local councils have been allocated 4 additional employees and 2 vehicles with a loader.
The introduction of the new system has already resulted in positive effects – since the 3rd of February 2700 dump trucks of snow have been removed. More people have been delegated to remove snow at bus and tram stops. –It is an extremely difficult task. In Bydgoszcz there are as many as 1000 stops. We have gradually managed to get to all of them – said the director of the Department of Crisis Management - Adam Ferek during a press conference.
Snow clearing is being done by 40 regular employees. Also groups of homeless people remaining under the care of social services offered their assistance. Part of the work will be carried out by prisoners (the group has been increased from 30 to 45 people).
The municipality has appointed 3 places for storing collected snow. Ludwikowo St., Prądocińska St. and Lisia St. The storage is free of charge.
