Polish team defeated in Fed Cup

Polish female tennis players lost in Bydgoszcz to the Belgian team 2:3 in the meeting of the first round of Fed Cup in the Word Group II.

In the Saturday single matches between the Polish and Belgian teams there was a draw 1:1. On Sunday (February,7) there was a match between the leaders of the two teams -Agnieszka Radwańska and Yanina Wickmayer. The first game was very long- lasted 9 minutes, Radwańska was doing well, had a much better service than her rival. Her second set was also very offensive; she was leading 3:0 in games. Later the fight was much more balanced and eventually after 2 h and 58 minutes Wickmayer won the whole match 6:1, 6:7 (6-8), 5:7. – It is hard to say whether it was me who lost the match or she who won it. We both had our opportunities and played very well. It was a good match between players from among the first 20 best female tennis players in the world – said Agnieszka Radwańska after the match.
In the second single match Marta Domachowska played against Kirsten Flipkens, who won the match 3:6, 6:7 (6-8) and opened the an opportunity for the Belgians to get to playoffs for a place in the World Group I next year.
In these circumstances the double match could not change anything, but at least to cheer the audience up the Polish team Klaudia Jans and Alicja Rosolska won with Sofie Oyen and An-Sofie Mestach 6:3, 3:6, 6:1.
