Residential complex with services – 'Młyn'

The investment is located at 4 Młyńska St. in Bydgoszcz.

The design of the residential complex with services “Młyn” projects construction of 26 flats located in two buildings joined by a catwalk. In the basement there is meant to be an underground car park, services and technical utilities. The transport between levels will be provided by lifts and pedestrian routes.
The attractive façade of the building was designed with natural materials: brick, mineral plaster and wooden facing. The roof will be covered with ceramic tiles.

The design of the modern residential building, with “Flis” stream running through the property and a reconstruction of hydroenergy installations, refers to a historic mill complex. Fast flowing water will power the mill wheel and generate electricity for the building.

The investment due to its location and historical background requires thorough planning and approvals from the heritage conservator and water supply authorities.

The structure was erected, in accordance with documentation obtained from the City Heritage Conservator, after a fire of a wooden mill in 1901. The mill was probably rebuilt by Franz Peterson as a brick structure. The nearby granary was also rebuilt and on the first floor level a catwalk was added which allows better access and internal transport between the two buildings. The mill will be equipped with an engine type Kersting 51.5 kW and a water turbine with the power of 25.8 kW, both ordered in Gdańsk Shipyard. Previously the source of water for the turbine was a pond with a surface of 113 a. and the capacity of the mill reached 14 tons of wheat or rye per 24 h. The source of power for the mill was the stream “Flis” and a water reservoir located below the level of mill buildings. The function of the reservoir was to regulate the intensity of water power also for generation of electricity.
The complexion of the investment is projected for the second half of 2008.
